Living Wage Now Forum


From 12 to 14 October 2015, achACT, Schone Kleren Campagne and the Clean Clothes Campaign organized the Brussels Living Wage Now Forum

Its aim? To encourage policy decision makers and brands to move from discourse to action, based on concrete proposals developed by the Clean Clothes Campaign.

In total, more than 392 participants came from 33 different nationalities, including 36 representatives of the European Clean Clothes Campaign, 32 partners from organizations in Asia, Eastern Europe, the USA, 13 representatives of allied organizations of the Clean Clothes Campaign, 18 representatives of 12 brands and representatives of international institutions, the European Commission, national governments and 13 Members of the European Parliament.

On the second day of the Living Wage Now Forum in Brussels, prior to the delivery of 150.000 signatures from Clean Clothes Campaign, Clean Clothes Campiagn pushed for binding agreements and legislation to ensure accountibility of brands in the garment sector. The Clean Clothes Campaign presented the signatures to international clothing brands and European Commission representatives during the Living Wage Now Forum.


The Living Wage Now Forum has opened doors to the inclusion of detailed contributions from CCC to the flagship initiative of the European Commission on the clothing sector, towards intensification of work on the living wage in Eastern Europe and finally to actions solidarity with Cambodian workers mobilized for a monthly salary of $ 177 .
